Geography and Location
Located approximately 22 kilometers east of downtown Vancouver, Coquitlam is a city situated on the southwest coast of British Columbia, Canada. It spans an area of approximately 125 square kilometers (48.2 sq mi) and has a population density of around 1,200 inhabitants per square kilometer. Municipal History

In 1891, a small settlement at what is now the city center was established by George and Florence Grant, who built the first post office and general store.
Coquitlam gained its municipal status in 1967, prior to which it functioned as part of the Fraser Valley municipality since 1912. Following further growth and urbanization, the Coquitlam City Council officially designated the area’s core region as a city center. Presently, Coquitlam operates within Metro Vancouver Regional District government framework.

Furthermore, an ongoing project aims at completing this 4-station route segment over multiple phases up until completion by late fall.
